The VTCT (ITEC) Level 5 Certificate in Laser Tattoo Removal is an advanced therapy qualification aimed at level 4 qualified practitioners aged 18 and over, who wish to add this therapy to their repertoire of treatment offerings.
Learners are required to hold a level 4 laser and IPL qualification to progress onto level 5 tattoo removal. Learners who hold a level 3 beauty therapy qualification or equivalent will be able to access the Level 4 Laser and IPL qualifications as a natural progression route.

The course runs over 14 weeks, 5 class days duration for (class instruction) and can be modified due to student time constraints. Course work is by way of live class participation for both theory and practical assessment. There is an aspect of online activity which allows students to study and participate at their own pace. All assessment is logged within a portfolio which is collated and marked by your tutor.
Case studies form part of this course where you will work with clients under close observation. Comprehensive consultation, aftercare treatment, homecare advice, evaluation and self- reflection all form part of the case study. Ongoing tutor support is given throughout.
Covered within the course are the physics underpinning this technology. We look closely at the equipment and those settings required for tattoo removal as well as current technologies of laser tattoo systems. Knowledge in IPL systems and Anatomy and Physiology are required which will help give you gain a deeper understanding of the skin structure and laser type systems.
The course discusses tattoo removal and the various Nd:YAG laser settings used to treat various skin types, considering aspects such as; Fitzpatrick skin types, location of the tattoo on the body, density of the ink, colour of the ink, client scarring, possible tattoo layers and age of the tattoo.
Uniquely this course at ESA, includes skin rejuvenation treatments that can be administered using Nd:YAG lasers, which are also a highly demanded service. There is an element of health and safety standards and legislation which will also be covered.
This course requires a high level of expertise and demands full attendance. On completion you will command the knowledge and skills required by employers as tattoo removal becomes a more common place in aesthetic and private clinics.
Our tutors have a high level of experience within the Beauty field both in education and industry and will teach you to the same standards as found in higher education. Staff have trained both in the U.K and the U.S.A in laser systems.

How you will be assessed?
Theory assessment is through ongoing assignments some of which is done as online student portal. Practical observation takes place at the schoo. All evidence is collated by way of a student portfolio which your tutor has access too. Ongoing support will be given throughout the duration of the course. For those learners who do not have access to computers can submit by paper form. Please enquire for details.
