The VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Massage for the Complementary Therapist has been designed to develop further the knowledge and understanding of advanced massage techniques and applications used within various modalities in massage therapy.

This qualification will enable you to add additional techniques for treatment application to your existing repertoire whilst further developing your knowledge of the theories and practices for advanced applications of massage.

Techniques are similar in form to those used in both therapeutic and the sports fields. Demonstration and learning will cover those areas of the body palpated for treatment such as the bony prominences and joints of the skeleton. All origins, insertions and bellies of 26 muscles are discussed and located for study. Advanced massage techniques such as palpation of soft and hard tissue, trigger point therapy, Range of Motion (ROM) as well as muscle energy techniques, postural analysis and muscle testing will be demonstrated practically.

The course runs over 16 weeks duration which includes 6 class days and can be modified due to student time constraints. Course work is via live class participation for both theory and practical assessment. There is an aspect of online activity which allows students to study and participate at their own pace. All assessment is logged within a portfolio which is collated and marked by your tutor. Ongoing tutor support is given throughout.

This is a very informative and enjoyable class for those looking to adopt skills for alternative practice and as an additional skill when used as a complimentary therapy. 15 Case studies form the main focus for your learning, with pathological and post injury conditions in mind. This will be completed outwith the school. Demonstration and learning will ensure you are equipped with the skills and knowledge required for practice. Many employers look for therapists who possess these additional skills as it can be used both in the beauty, therapeutic, health and sport clinic-based industry.
