The VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Providing Therapies for Clients with Cancer or other Life Limiting Conditions qualification will prepare you to work within a healthcare setting providing complementary therapies for clients who are suffering life limiting conditions or who are critically frail. Complementary therapies are widely available to people with cancer and increasingly to patients with a range of long term medical and life limiting conditions. These therapies are delivered alongside orthodox treatments, often within the healthcare setting, with the aim of providing psychological and emotional support through the relief of symptoms.

Through this qualification you will develop your interpersonal skills while expanding your understanding of providing therapies to clients with cancer or other life limiting conditions. This qualification is designed to give you the essential knowledge to assist you to provide your therapeutic skills within a clinical setting.

This qualification is designed to lead employment in a variety of roles, either self employed, in a complementary therapy clinic, beauty or spa facilities or private practice. This qualification may also lead to employment within a hospital, hospice or other healthcare environments.

The course runs over 12 weeks duration which includes 5 class days and can be modified due to student time constraints. Course work is by way of live class participation for both theory and practical assessment. There is an aspect of online activity which allows students to study and participate at their own pace. All assessment is logged within a portfolio which is collated and marked by your tutor. Ongoing tutor support is given throughout.  


For this course you are expected to organise a work placement within a healthcare setting where you can work with both clients/patients and carers in a realistic working environment. You should aim to work with 8 clients as part of your case study plan. Assistance will be given to establish your client base. Your aim is to treat Clients that have a health or life limiting conditions; where you will develop a plan for a complimentary treatment/s that best suit the particular client.

This qualification has been developed collaboratively with employers, professional associations and key stakeholders in the massage therapy sector. Because of this, the knowledge, skills and competencies gained will provide the best possible opportunity for progression into employment.

Our tutors have a high level of experience within the Complimentary and Holistic fields in both education and industry and will teach you to the same standards as found in higher education.  This coupled with your input will allow you to progress to a level expected for certification.

You will complete the following units

  • Interpersonal skills for the complementary therapist

  • Provide complementary therapies for people with life limiting conditions

  • Working with healthcare professionals

  • Principles of providing complementary therapies in a healthcare setting


How you will be assessed?

Theory assessment is through ongoing assignments some of which is done as online student portal. Practical observation takes place at the school, however part of ongoing practical will be completed as distance learning.  All evidence is collated by way of a student portfolio which your tutor has access too. Ongoing support will be given throughout the duration of the course. This course is also suitable for both live class and distance learners. For those learners who do not have access to computers can submit by paper form. Please enquire for details.


Entry Requirements

Students should possess at least one;


  • Level 3 in Anatomy and Physiology

  • Students should be 16 years and over

  • Student should possess a good command of English

  • Student should have a satisfactory level of education



  • 5 days live class over 12 weeks – 10am - 5pm

  • Ongoing home study – 12 weeks duration

Deposit is £100, deductible from the Total Course Fee amount.

Includes VTCT registration fee, exam/assessment fee, learning pack.

Course payments must be made in full before awarding the certificate can be fulfilled.
