ESA CERTIFICATE IN HOT STONE THERAPY

Using basalt stones to massage you will carry out the correct techniques required for hot stone massage. Covered also is the health and safety aspects required within the working environment. This treatment is not only carried out by beauty therapists but also those working in the therapeutic field of massage.

Hot stone is typically carried out using Swedish massage movements and is knows both as a complementary therapy and a therapeutic treatment, as well as a holistic treatment. Basalt stones are  smooth in texture which are heated up to the correct temperature in a specialised stone heater. They are then used as a means of relaxation, soothing tired muscles and additionally for those therapeutic and sports therapy areas of massage when treating muscular tension and trigger point therapy. The heat penetrates the skin and underlying tissues including the fascia. This allows better depth of massage increasing blood circulation and help the body of waste products.

Here you will be observed following correct massage placement and techniques for a full body massage. On a holistic level the stones can be placed on specific points of the body which energetically balances the body and mind. This can be found covered more in depth in our VTCT level 3 Hot and Cold Stone Massage course.

Knowledge for prior learning will given to those enrolling on our ESA course. The more advanced course you will go beyond the basic massage covering aspects of pathological conditions for use as well as visiting the holistic aspects through the meridian placement.

Duration -  1 day, 10am - 3pm (students can return for further study)

Exam – is by observation only

Certification – You will be awarded the Erasure Skin Academy Diploma Hot stone massage

CPD points – 26

 

Entry and progression routes to further education courses – Other ESA courses, VTCT/NVQ level 2/3 beauty courses.

 

Student requirements – Students to wear suitable comfortable clothing. Long hair to be tied back. Students are required to be prompt to class.
